Description

Bud Sagendorf Popeye Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-27-73 (King Features Syndicate, 1973). Popeye gives his pal J. Wellington Wimpy five dollars to buy dinner for Swee'Pea, and Wimpy does the only logical thing -- fills Swee'Pea up on complimentary water and spends the five dollars on hamburgers for himself! Crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 21" x 14". Stat title/logo paste-up, paper abrasion in the top margin, some adhesive residue in between the top and middle tiers, and corner creasing. The strip has previously been folded in half, presumably to allow for mailing to the syndicate. As a handwritten note in the lower margin notes, this strip was reprinted in Popeye: The First Fifty Years on Page 78. Signed in the lower margin by Bud Sagendorf and in Very Good condition.
