Al McWilliams Dateline: Danger! Consecutive Daily Comic Strips Original Art Group of 2 (Field Enterprises, 1970). Dateline: Danger! was inspired by the popular television series I Spy and holds the honorable distinction of featuring the first African American lead character in a comic strip series. This group includes the dailies from 5-5 and 5-6 of 1970. Rendered in ink and screentone over graphite on Bristol board with approximate image areas of 18.5" x 5.5". Lightly toned (more so around the edges), with some smudging, handling wear, and edge wear. The 5-5 daily has small stains and additional marginal wear, including small edge tears.
