Description

Dan Adkins Rocket to the Moon Cover Re-Creation Illustration Original Art (undated). Dan Adkins delivers a stellar tribute of Joe Orlando's 1951 Avon one-shot cover, drawn straight from the heart of 1950s sci-fi. Orlando's EC Comics touch gives it that unmistakable spark, complete with a ray-gun-toting space hero, bubble helmet gleam, swooning lunar princess, towering rocket, and oncoming alien menace. The original comic adapted Otis Adelbert Kline's novel Maza of the Moon, and this vivid reimagining brings Ted Dustin and Princess Maza back to their interplanetary stage in all their pulp-era glory. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 11.75" x 17". Toning, a hint of spot staining, stat price, Avon bullet logo, and cover blurb paste-ups, corner creasing, and edge/handling wear. In Excellent condition.
From the Roger Hill Collection.
