Description

Bill Holman Smokey Stover Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-22-1950 (News Syndicate, 1950). Smokey Stover was one of the most surreal and strange comic strips ever. And that is really saying a lot! Holman hit a background gag in almost ever panel, and that's in addition to the awful "Dad Joke" puns he stuffed into every strip. He also had many running gags, several of which are included on this very Sunday... "1506 Nix Nix", "Notary Sojac", "Foo". The lower companion strip stars the Firehouse cat, Spooky. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 24" x 16". Signed and personalized in the first panel of the Spooky strip with a red ink pen. This is has bled into the paper. The board is toned, with minor soiling. In Good condition.
