Description

Ralph Hershberger Funny Business Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group of 3 (NEA Service, Inc., 1941-45). A fine array of Hershberger's awkwardly hilarious situations, emphasizing military life during the wartime 1940s. The popular gagman could find humor in the doggonedest varieties of settings -- and his ability is captured to near-perfection in this batch. A classic feature of the big-nose/big-foot school, stylistically reminiscent of Bill Holman's Smokey Stover. The dates are 4-7-41, 12-22-41 and 7-25-45.Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Uniform image area, 10" square. Excellent condition, with light marginal handling wear.
