P. Craig Russell The Chimera Signed and Numbered Portfolio 25/1000 and Others. Group of 7 Portfolios (Various Publishers 1960s-1970s). A fantastic group of mostly fantasy-related art. These portfolios are by some of the top illustrators in the industry and many are signed! Russell's The Chimera is more than just a ten plate portfolio in a folder, in fact- it's a ten page comic book story! Each page is in a full multi-panel comic book format layout and they tell a complete story. Shot straight from his pencils with no inks, this is P. Craig Russell at the beginning of his fascination with illustrating classical operatic themes. Each page is signed and numbered by 25/100 Russell. Also included is Charles D. Vess' Dream Collector portfolio which is signed and numbered 2/350 on the first plate, Virgil Finlay's The American Dream numbered 112/594, and Finlay's Lost Drawings For Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream", Thomas Canty's Jack of Shadows signed and numbered 4/25, Dorothy Dulin's: Dorothy Dulin Portfolio numbered 184/200, and a print of Robert Gould's interpretation of Elric of Melnibone. There is some edge wear, light toning, foxing, and corner creases and bumps. Overall these items are in Very Good condition.Auction Info
