Description
Al Jaffee Tall Tales Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 3-18-59 (New York Times Herald, 1959). Already a presence in MAD, Jaffee also re-shaped the newspapers' comics pages with Tall Tales -- a narrow vertical panel that was usually wordless, or with minimal dialogue. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 2.75" x 10.25". Slight toning, frame paste-up over the image with no logo or syndicate paste-ups and date/signature cover-up (likely for reprinting in Jaffee's Tall Tales paperback), whiteout corrections, with residue staining and handling wear.
