Description

Gould Assistant Artist Dick Tracy Unpublished Consecutive Daily Comic Strips Original Art Group of 5 (1957). Here is a fascinating glimpse into Chester Gould's creative process with his art assistants: 5 daily Dick Tracy strips, dated 1-8-57 to 1-12-57, in which Tracy is kidnapped by a trio of female assassins called the Kitten Sisters who are only now realizing who they've got and what that means for them. These daily strips, called "blanks", are unpublished and created to gage Gould's assistant artist's ability in consideration for a greater role in the strip's production. These examples have unfinished artwork in several panels and lack any copyright attribution. Produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with image areas of 16.5" x 5.25". Boards are slightly toned with moderate handling and wear in the margins and edges, along with pencil smudges and editorial remarks. In Very Good condition.
