Description
Art Huhta Dinky Dinkerton, Secret Agent 6 & 7/8 Consecutive Daily Comic Strips Original Art Group of 6 (Jones Syndicate, 1941). "An unexpected and unknown highlight in the history of screwball comics," raves the Screwball Web-magazine, likening Dinky Dinkerton to "a Marx Bros. movie on paper," or early-day MAD. Goofy crimebuster Dinkerton's helper, Sniffy, tackles "The Mystery of the Missing Escort" in this concentration of weekday episodes, dated 1-13 through 1-18. A formal year-date is missing from the strips's copyright bug, but the days would coincide with Dinky's third year of syndication, 1941. The title is a riff on the historic Pinkerton Detective Agency. Huhta's drawing style reflects within the 1920s-1930s big-nose/big-foot cartooning traditions of Elzie Segar's Popeye and George Swanson and C.D. Small's respective turns on Salesman Sam.
