Description

Shinbone Alley and Stanley the Ugly Duckling Production Cels and Setup Signed by John Wilson Group of 4 (Fine Arts Films, 1970/1982). Tyrone T. Tattersall, Archy, and other characters appear in this cool collection of three original hand-painted production cels. This animated version of Don Marquis' classic characters is actually based on the stage play written in part by Mel Brooks. It's the story of a poet named Archy who commits suicide, only to return as a cockroach. Archy appears in one cel, surrounded by "Ladybugs of the Evening" who have read and like his poems. Theatre maestro cat Tyrone T. Tattersall appears in two cels, including one setup with a Master hand-painted background (the knot hole is a cut-out section, with green paper behind). Each cel has been hand-signed by the director, John David Wilson. Along with the three Shinbone Alley cels is an original hand-painted cel from a later John Wilson film, a television special called Stanley, the Ugly Duckling. Based loosely on the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, the special originally aired on 5/1/1982. The cel shows little Stanley with a couple of "Hell's Eagles." This cel is also hand-signed by Mr. Wilson. All four items are in 18" x 14" mats, with opening sizes of 12" x 8" (Archy), 11" x 9.25" (Tyrone setup), 11" x 8" (Tyrone cel), and 11.5" x 8" (Stanley). Overall condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
