Description
The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show Bullwinkle and Rocky Scene Cel (Jay Ward, 1988). "Look, Boris - is Moose and Squirrel!" Well, Boris and Natasha aren't around, but here indeed is the time-honored cartoon team of Rocket J. Squirrel (aka Rocky) and Bullwinkle J. Moose in a fantastic hand-painted pose. This is a "scene cel" as originally sold at the Dudley Do-Right Emporium (open from 1971 to 2005) on Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood. Studio head Jay Ward (1920 -1989) had these cels made to meet early collector demands. At the time, Jay thought that Bullwinkle looked better in orange, but a few (like this) were produced in brown as he looked in the cartoon series. These are very rare and highly coveted by collectors. The characters measure approximately 3" and 8" tall. The cel, which includes a Jay Ward seal in the lower right, is matted with an opening of 9.75" x 11.75", and an overall mat size of 16" x 18". The mat has slight corner wear, and is sold as-is.
