Description

Norman Nodel (attributed) Classics Illustrated Special Issue #147A - Crossing the Rockies Story Pages 7-8 Original Art (Gilberton, 1958). Published as a separate biannual series designed to compliment the "literary" bent of the regular Classics Illustrated, these comics, numbered within the ongoing series and separated with an "A", were double sized issues, 100 or more pages in length, with multi-chapter stories of a historical nature. The historical events were simplified to the point of truncation and intentional omission. Please note that other sources have attributed other artists to this story, including Don Perlin, George Evans, and Reed Crandall. Produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 18". Moderately toned pages with handling and wear evident in the margins. Copious editorial notes in blue graphite. Paste up lettering corrections are loose and toned. Overall in Very Good condition.
