Description

Samuel D. Ehrhart Puck Magazine Illustration Original Art (Keppler & Scwarzmann, 1911). Ehrhart's sharp wit found a home in Puck from 1888 to 1913, where his political satire flourished alongside his gift for pure humor. This large-scale rendering of Noah's Ark distills that playful spirit, a testament to his range beyond editorial barbs. Puck, a forebear to MAD Magazine and its satirical kin, set the stage for generations of visual humor, with Ehrhart among its finest contributors. Drafted in ink over blue pencil on thick Bristol board with an image area of 12.25" x 16". The board is toned with foxing, water stains, and pinholes. There is an unfinished cartoon on the back of the page with adhesive residue. In Very Good condition.
