Detective Comics #40 (DC, 1940) CGC FN- 5.5 Cream to off-white pages. This important early issue has the origin and first appearance of Clayface, and the first Joker cover appearance. Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson handle the Batman features, and Ken Ernst, Fred Guardineer, and Howard Sherman provide interior art. Overstreet 2005 FN 6.0 value = $2,031. CGC census 6/05: 2 in 5.5, 5 higher.
