Description
Lord of the Rings Land of Rohan Painted Production Background with Cel Overlays (Ralph Bakshi, 1978). This animated adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's epic Middle-earth saga is loaded with beautiful background images. Here's a typical 16 field moonlit landscape seen in the film at the 1:37:43 mark. This is just at the point right before Merry and Pippin escape capture by the Orcs, at the campsite of Aragorn. Legolas, and Gimli. Landscape backgrounds for this film were created by a number of artists, including Marcia Adams, Edwin B. Heath III, Barry Jackson, Carol Kieffer, and Johnnie Vita. An acetate overlay includes a sepia tone photographic highlights image; the main illustration is airbrushed/hand-painted with watercolor and gouache. Overall board size is approximately 17" x 13.75".
