Description

Walt Disney's Winnie the Pooh Sunday Comic Strip Original Art - Dated 12-21-80 (King Features Syndicate, 1980). Original hand-drawn Sunday comic strip featuring Walt Disney's Winnie the Pooh, published December 21, 1980. This delightful strip captures Pooh and Piglet sharing a clever "Piglet Latin" joke as they stroll through the Hundred Acre Wood, dodging butterflies along the way. Written by Don Ferguson and illustrated by Richard "Sparky" Moore, the strip ran from June 19, 1978, to April 2, 1988, and was typically billed simply as "by Disney." In a 2015 reflection, Disney Legend Floyd Norman praised Ferguson's inventive humor, recalling his earlier work for Jay Ward Productions. Norman wrote, "How we managed to get Don to migrate to Disney I'll never know. I do know that he brought a very special cartoon sensibility to the Walt Disney Publishing Department and we were all the better for having him here. Don managed to bring a degree of audaciousness to the 'Winnie the Pooh' comic strip that was totally unexpected. It was Don's cheeky sensibility that made the comic strip such a joy to read." Rendered in ink on 23" x 16" Bristol board with blue guidelines, framed to 29.5" x 22.5". Artwork condition is Very Good. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
