The Sword in the Stone Madam Mim and Wart as a Sparrow Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1963). "I'll wring your scrawny little neck." The villainous Madam Mim says, clutching the fledgling sparrow Wart in her hand. This tense moment can be found at about the 1:03:35 mark of the film during Wart's last lesson with the wizard Merlin. He was supposed to have a flying lesson with Merlin's owl Archimedes, but things go awry when he's attacked by a hawk. He accidentally stumbles on a much more dangerous foe in his attempt to escape, finding himself in the home of the powerful Madam Mim. This gigantic hand-inked, hand-painted cel is a wonderful look at the protagonist and antagonist of the film. Both characters were animated by members of Disney's "Nine Old Men" with Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston animating Wart and Milt Kahl, Frank Thomas, and Wolfgang Reitherman animating Madam Mim. This enormous and centered cel measures approximately 7.5'' x 7'' in a 9.25'' x 8'' mat window. The mat includes the hand-written title below it and is presented in a 17'' x 15'' Plexiglas frame. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. There is minor handling wear, minor paint damage on Madame Mim's left leg, and slight warping on the cel. Very Good condition overall.
