Description

Charlotte's Web "County Fair" Original Production Cel and Key Master Background (Hanna-Barbera, 1973). This is a fantastic seven-cel Key Master setup from the "County Fair" sequence in Charlotte's Web. The hand-painted 12 field-size cels are presented over the matching Key Master production-used background. The background was hand-painted in gouache on 12 field-size board by art director, Paul Julian (1914 - 1995). Julian was one of the finest background artists in the business with over 150 film credits. He landed a job as layout and background artist at Leon Schlesinger's, "Termite Terrace" animation studio in 1939, assigned to Friz Freleng's unit. Julian was known to carry bulky paintings through narrow studio passageways warning people to stay out his path by shouting "hmeep-hmeep" (misheard as "beep-beep"). This characteristic sound was famously adopted by Warner Brothers' writer Michael Maltese as the trademark beep-beep made by the Road Runner. Maltese recorded Julian at various speeds during a single audio session. Since Julian was not a member of the Screen Actors Guild, he did not receive screen credit, but still very cool. This terrific Key Master is presented in Very Good condition with minor handling wear.
