Description

Mulan Khan Character Development Art by Chen-Yi Chang Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1998). This is a superb pair of character development pieces for Fa Mulan's beloved steed, Khan, who is featured prominently in the film Mulan as he aids her in the war against the Huns. The stern, no-nonsense stallion sometimes appears to silently snark at events, particularly when Mulan notices a number of naked soldiers going to bathe. The artwork is by the supervising character designer for Mulan, Chen-Yi Chang. The character designer and storyboard artist is widely known for his brilliant character design work on Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) and Batman: The Animated Series (1992-1995) while at Warner Brothers, and his work at Disney on Tarzan (1999) and Home on the Range (2004), where he would earn an Annie nomination, and at DreamWorks on How to Train Your Dragon (2010) and Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) to name just a few of Chang's impressive credits. The artwork was rendered in graphite over non-copying blue pencil on two 8.5" x 11" sheets. The artist has signed both pieces using his Chinese character symbol. This remarkable artwork is in Fine condition.
