Hercules Storybook Preliminary Background by Ron Dias (Walt Disney, c. 1997-2000s). Offered in this lot is an original hand-painted preliminary pan background by Ron Dias (1937 - 2013) created for a Disney storybook, based on the 1997 animated Disney film, Hercules. Dias began his animation career with Disney Studios in 1956 where he worked as an inbetweener and clean-up animator on Sleeping Beauty. He went on to become a noted background painter at Columbia Pictures, 20th Century-Fox, Warner Bros Pictures, MGM and Disney. This gorgeous painting was rendered in gouache on 21.5" x 10.5" background board. The piece exhibits tack holes in the top corners and center margin from production use. The painting is signed by Ron Dias in the bottom left. Condition is Very Good.Auction Info
