Description

The Rescuers Down Under Workbook Storyboard Art (Walt Disney, 1990). Following the success of Disney's 1977 feature film The Rescuers, a new feature-length follow-up to the film was approved by Disney. The Rescuers Down Under was Disney's first theatrically-released animated sequel. It was also Disney's first feature film created with completely digital ink and paint. Because the film was created digitally, production art from its development is even more rare. This piece is a wonderful page of storyboard thumbnail drawings from the film that was created for studio-distributed storyboard workbooks. The drawings depict the scene which begins at about the 21:29 mark of the film, as Bianca and Bernard get ready to take a flight on an albatross. The drawings are rendered with graphite on 16 field animation paper. There are a total of ten thumbnail drawings on this page, which map out much of the scene's story and framing. The piece is in Good to Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including a few tears on the edges, away from the images, minor creasing, and minor graphite smudging.
