Bill Tytla - Self-Caricature with Friend Ink Wash 11" x 17.5" Original Art with Photo Taken by Art Babbitt Reproduction Group of 2 (c. 1930-40s). Disney Legend Bill Tytla (1903 -1968) shares a drink with a friend in this marvelous original ink wash illustration created by the renowned animator. Known for his remarkable work in iconic Disney animated films like Dumbo, Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Tytla is widely recognized as one of the most momentous artists in Disney History due to his emblematic style of infusing life into the gestures and facial expressions of the characters he animated, reflecting clearly their thoughts and emotions. This stunning original artwork shows Tytla's more casual style, depicting with confident brushstrokes a candid scene at a bar, with Tytla himself sitting next to a friend. Remarkably large, this 11" x 17" illustration on torn paper offers a rare glimpse at Tytla's perception of himself. The two photograph reproductions included in this lot show images of Tytla, and were originally taken by his friend and fellow animator Art Babbitt. The artwork is in Good condition, showing edge wear, small tears, and a cup stain near the top left corner.
