Description

Wally Gator and Friends Early Character Development Sketches Original Art Group of 6 (Hanna-Barbera, 1959-63). The Wally Gator show was originally shown as part of The Hanna-Barbera New Cartoon Series programing block. Along with Wally Gator were segments starring Touché Turtle with his dimwitted sidekick Dum Dum and Lippy the Lion. All four characters are seen in this collection of six very cool 12 field early character studies, most likely from the hand of Dick Bickenbach (1907 - 1994); in fact, the drawing of Dum Dum is hand-signed by Mr. Bickenbach. Also included here are character development layout drawings from Hanna-Barbera's final theatrical series, Loopy De Loop, plus an early concept sketch of a vest-wearing fox and his young sidekick; this may have been among the first versions of Fibber Fox, from The Yogi Bear Show. All six drawings are in graphite; the Loopy drawing has blue pencil under the graphite. The Wally Gator drawing has a second, slightly different image on the reverse side. Dum Dum's image is the largest, measuring approximately 4.5" x 7". The Lippy page is an original model sheet, with four images. Overall condition is Good, with handling/edge wear and minor age-related paper toning.
