Description
Hanna-Barbera Character Design and Layout Drawing Group of 4 by Ed Benedict and Dick Bickenbach (Hanna-Barbera, c. 1950s-1960s). If you're a fan of Hanna-Barbera's early cartoons, this is the lot for you! Here's a great group of four original production drawings from four different early Hanna-Barbera shows. First, we have a great piece of character development artwork by Ed Benedict for Chopper, the bulldog who protects his "Little Buddy" Yakky Doodle in their segment of The Yogi Bear Show. The piece includes three different images of Chopper from different angles and was likely created during the development of the show, before it went on-air. The other three drawings were created by Dick Bickenbach. We have a great model/character development drawing of Wally Gator, who debuted in the 1962 show The Hanna-Barbera New Cartoon Series. This piece features a fantastic, full-figure image of the gator looking over his shoulder. Next, we have a wonderful model/layout drawing of both Snooper and Blabber, a cat and mouse duo of detectives originating in The Quick Draw McGraw Show. Finally, we have a layout drawing of Dum Dum from Touché Turtle and Dum Dum as he rides a bicycle. This layout drawing is from roughly the 1:48 mark of the episode "The Phoney Phantom." The drawings are all created on 12 field, 3-peghole animation paper. Wally Gator, Dum Dum, and Snooper and Blabber's drawings are rendered in graphite, with Dum Dum's also having some red and blue colored pencil. Chopper's drawing is rendered with black pastel. The pieces are in Good to Very Good condition overall, with some handling and edge wear from production use. Wally's drawing has some minor staining, Dum Dum's has some staple holes, Snooper and Blabber's has minor toning, and Chopper's has some smudging.Auction Info
