Description

Raggedy Ann and Andy Color Model/Character Design Drawings Original Art (Fleischer Studios, 1941). The famous rag doll characters created by Johnny Gruelle come to life in a lovely Fleischer Studios cartoon directed by Dave Fleischer and released to theaters on 4/11/1941. Charles Thorson is believed to be the artist. Here are two superb images of the dolls drawn in graphite and color pencils on paper; the images have been cut out and affixed to a three-ring binder page. These images may have been used in model sheets or as color models. Raggedy Ann measures approximately 3" x 5.5", while Ragged Andy (brother in the book series, sweethearts in this cartoon) measures 3.5" x 5.75". Andy only appeared in this one cartoon, though Ann was used in the 1947 Noveltoon short The Enchanted Square. The binder sheet is 8.5" x 11" with rounded corners and reinforced binder holes. The art paper is probably from an animation sheet and appears to have been affixed with light rubber cement; there is a bit of staining on both, most noticeable on Ann's drawing. Condition is Good.
