Description

Fantasia "Dance of the Hours" Animator's Reference Material Group of 16 Sheets (Walt Disney, 1940). This invaluable collection of 16 sheets of reference material, once utilized by animators for the "Dance of the Hours" segment of Disney's Fantasia, comes from the private collection of Disney Legends Marc and Alice Davis. Each sheet, signed by Marc Davis (1913 - 2000), reveals a glimpse into the early stages of his illustrious career at Disney, having joined the studio in 1935. As an uncredited assistant animator, Davis contributed to both "The Pastoral Symphony" and "Dance of the Hours," under the supervision of Norm Ferguson. These studio prints on 11" x 14" photographic paper showcase a variety of cartoon animals engaged in dancing and human-like activities such as playing sports, serving as a testament to the creative process behind one of Disney's most ambitious projects. In Fair to Good condition, with age-related toning and superficial wrinkling, this collection not only highlights Marc Davis's contributions to animation but also his legacy as a Disney Legend and a key figure in the development of iconic Disneyland attractions.
From the Disney Legend Inductees Marc and Alice Davis Archive.
