Description
Jiminy Cricket Royal Gelatin Commercial Production Cel signed by Preston Blair and Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, c. 1970's). The most stylish conscience in animation, Jiminy Cricket, is prominently featured in this fantastic lot that offers a terrific hand-painted and hand-inked production cel of the character from Pinocchio, signed by the famed animator Preston Blair (1908 - 1995), accompanied by the matching animation drawing. Blair joined Walt Disney Studios later in the 1930s, after working for Walter Lantz and Charles Mintz. At Disney, Blair worked on some of the studio's most famous animated films, such as Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Bambi. Featured in full figure with his umbrella and hat, Jiminy is shown measuring 3.5" x 5.25", numbered 164 in the top right corner, and signed by Blair in the bottom right. The matching animation drawing has the character rendered in graphite. The cel has a fold on the top right area, with the animation drawing showing crumpling on the top right and small tears on the top edge. Faint paint wear can be seen on the cel's linework. Overall, the lot shows mild handling and edge wear from production. The drawing is in Good to Very Good condition, and the cel is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
