Society of N.Y. Animators Honors Binder Presented to Preston Blair (1981). A talented group of personalities of the animation world show their gratitude towards the legendary Preston Blair (1908 - 1995) in this lot that features an incredibly rare binder from the Animation Society of New York, dated June 11, 1981. The renowned animator is recognized for his work on major studios like Walter Lantz Productions, Disney, and MGM. Brother of artist Lee Everett Blair and brother-in-law of the Disney Legend Mary Blair, Blair's involvement in Disney includes animating in Dumbo, Bambi, Pinocchio, and Mickey Mouse scenes in the famous segment "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" from Fantasia. Leaving Disney in 1941, Blair's influential animation work continued working for Tex Avery, giving life to the iconic Red Hot Riding Hood in hilarious shorts like Swing Shift Cinderella and Little Rural Riding Hood. Contained in this 11.5" x 12.5" binder are signed dedications and some fabulous sketches done by 24 figures of the animation world, including some paste-in cut-outs from his indispensable animation instructional books. Among the personalities that signed this binder, we find the president of the Society of N.Y. Animators and director of many episodes of The Bullwinkle Show, Sal Fallace, famous film critic and historian Leonard Maltin, Phil Kimmelman, cartoonist Dean Yeagle, famous animator Tony Eastman, Doug Crane, and many others. The pages show minor handling wear. Overall, in Very Good condition.
