Description

The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound Segment Title Cel Setup (Hanna-Barbera, 1988). Huckleberry Hound takes the spotlight as a "mysterious, steely-eyed, and silent-type stranger" in this feature-length film created by Hanna-Barbera. This film, entitled The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound, parodies various famous Western films, and it was the only film in the Hanna-Barbera Superstars 10 series in which Huckleberry Hound played the leading role. This film was also the final time that Daws Butler voiced Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, Baba Looey, Snagglepuss, Hokey Wolf, and Peter Potamus, as he passed away three days after the film's airing. This cool piece was used to introduce one of the Western-style segments in the film entitled "The Good Meets the Bad." This was the third segment in the film, and this title can be found at about the 12:30 mark. The setup is composed of three original, hand-painted 12 field production cels. The top cel depicts silhouettes of Huckleberry Hound and several members of the Dalton Gang. The next cel provides the patterned blue title, and the third cel provides the white underlay for the title. These three great cels are set atop an orange paper background with a yellow circle behind Huckleberry Hound to complete the setup. This excellent piece is in Good to Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including a few small spots of paint separation.
