Description

Pinocchio Studio-Printed Model Sheets Group of 6 (Walt Disney, 1940). For each character, prop, and background to remain consistent in an animated production the team would need reference. The six marvelous studio printed model sheets in this lot served as a handful of those reference tools for animators and background artists who were working on the film. Disney Model sheets were created in Joe Grants Character Model Department and were printed on photographic paper in small quantities for the artists to use. They are considered highly collectable and remain important documents in the Disney animation process. This group includes model sheet prints with suggestions for Cleo and a toy frog, Geppetto's boat, the Russian marionette dancer, two background layouts for a city street and inside Stromboli's wagon, and Pinocchio's books. The toy frog notably never appeared in the film, but if the poses are anything to go by, they would have had a few hilarious interactions. Each of the sheets is stapled to a roughly 15.5'' x 12.5'' sheet of animation paper and the group in Good to Very Good condition with minimal edge and handling wear to the model sheets and some age-relate toning and edge tears to the paper the sheets are attached to.
