Description

George Rowley - Original Santa Claus Illustration (c. 1940s-1950s). The talented George Rowley (1905 - 1991) animated at Walt Disney Studios during its prime, from the studio's very first animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, through the production of Lady and the Tramp. He was also an avid cartoonist and illustrator, and here is one of Rowley's original watercolor illustrations, depicting Santa Claus delivering presents on Christmas. The piece is created with watercolor and black ink on a 12.5" x 15.5" sheet, and it's possible that this art was used for a calendar or greeting card. The artwork is signed by the artist on its lower right side. This is a beautifully large and detailed image! There is a horizontal fold through the page, and the corners of the sheet have pinholes. The piece is in Good to Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including age-related toning, minor creasing, and a water stain on the lower edge of the image.
