Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro Lupin the Third Production Cel Setup and Animation Drawing (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, 1979). "Four hundred years of killing and more killing... May you rest in peace." The beloved master thief Lupin the Third pays his respects to hundreds of ancient decaying corpses under the titular Castle of Cagliostro in this fantastic hand-painted original production cel setup. This piece can be seen at the 49:45 mark of the film The Castle of Cagliostro, the directorial debut of the great Hayao Miyazaki. Lupin stands a centered 6.75" tall on the 14" x 9" setup, and the cels are numbered A1 and B1 in the upper right corners. It is showcased on page 226 of the German Film Institute's gallery exhibition book Ga-Netchu! The Manga Anime Syndrome. In addition, this fantastic piece is accompanied by its matching animation drawing rendered in graphite and color pencil, also numbered A1 in the lower right corner. The cels and drawing all bear the production number 696 at the top. The drawing shows handling and edge wear with heavy surface scuffing and tearing. Its condition is Damaged. The cels show handling and edge wear with tape in the upper corners, and the condition of the setup is Very Good.
