Description

Aladdin (TV Series) "The Return of Malcho" Genie (as the Beast) and Iago (as Belle) Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1995). This outstanding original 12-field hand-painted production cel captures the Genie spoofing the Beast while Iago plays "Belle," an inspired visual gag from "The Return of Malcho," first broadcast February 28, 1995, and directed by Alan Zaslove. As Aladdin serves as temporary Sultan during the royal vacation, Iago's old foe Malcho swoops back into Agrabah, forcing Aladdin to rally the Royal Guards, protect Iago, and stop the serpent without endangering the city-while enduring Razoul and Iago's unhelpful advice. The cel presents terrific full-body images-Genie approximately 7" tall and Iago about 1.5"-set over a color print background from the scene for immediate display impact. Crisp linework and clean paint fields showcase the series' sharp television animation, and the tongue-in-cheek Beauty and the Beast costumes add crossover charm for Disney fans. Presented on a standard 12-field acetate, the piece comes matted as shown; a Disney Certificate of Authenticity is included. Overall condition is Very Good. A playful, highly desirable artifact from Disney's Aladdin television series, combining a memorable Genie transformation with a rare costumed Iago cameo-perfect for collectors who appreciate both Agrabah and the world of Belle and Beast.
