Description
The Little Mermaid Ariel, Eric, Sebastian, and Flounder Color Model Cel Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1989). From the celebrated animated classic The Little Mermaid, we have in this lot a sensational collection of four rare hand-painted color model cels featuring our protagonist, Ariel, accompanied by Prince Eric, Sebastian, and Flounder. This beloved film is a landmark in Disney history, as the Studio's last film to use traditional cel animation and the first in the momentous Disney Renaissance. These terrific color models were hand-painted at the Disney Ink and Paint Department at the studio lot, done to be used during production to achieve consistent coloring of the characters. Each on a 16-field cel, these images show Ariel measuring 5" x 7.5" (noted "Cool Storm Ariel" in the bottom right corner), a 4" x 8.25" Prince Eric ("Storm Silhouette Eric"), Sebastian measuring 3.75" x 7" (Shadow Sebastian"), and a 3.25" x 3" Flounder ("Grotto Flounder"). All showing minor handling and edge wear from production, this lot is in Very Good conditionFrom the James Coleman Collection.
