Description

Robot Carnival "Chicken Man and Red Neck" Production Cel with Key Master Background (A.P.P.P., 1987). Red Neck, the robot wizard bringing robots to life in Tokyo, is featured here in this magnificent hand-painted original production cel from the Takashi Nakamura-directed segment "Chicken Man and Red Neck" (retitled "Nightmare" in the U.S.) from the anime anthology film Robot Carnival. This short is an astounding showcase of detailed and chaotic animation. Presented on its original Key Master background rendered in gouache by Hiroshige Sawai, this piece can be seen at the 1:22:13 mark of the American release of Robot Carnival. The setup measures 13" x 10.25", and the background shows trimming. Otherwise, the piece shows minor handling and edge wear from normal studio use. The cel is numbered A-1 in the upper right corner, and the condition is Very Good.
From the Glad Museum Collection.
