Description

Preston Blair - Seated Female Nude Signed Original Drawing (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). By the hand of author and character animator Preston Blair (1908 - 1995), this is a stunning original nude drawing. An excellent study of light and shadow over the human form, this incredible piece is rendered masterfully in mixed media on a sheet of 13.75" x 16.5" artist paper. The celebrated artist and animator Preston Blair graduated from art school and intended to work as a fine artist, but difficult times led him (along with his brother Lee and Lee's wife Mary) to take employment in animation studios in Southern California. Preston continued to paint throughout his life and accepted commissions for illustration and advertising work, in addition to his animation work with Walt Disney and MGM. This incredible original work by the artist shows minor handling and edge wear with slight wrinkling, and the artist's signature is in the lower right corner. A graphite sketch is on the back side of the piece. The condition of this rare find is Very Good.
