Description

Harrison Ellenshaw "Mill Way" Original Painting - Acrylic on 30" x 24" Canvas - Signed by the Artist (c. 2000s). Harrison Ellenshaw's Mill Way is an acrylic on canvas, 30" x 24", framed to 37" x 31". A winding pathway slips between trees in the District of Templin, Germany-now part of Uckermark-rendered in Ellenshaw's distinctive interplay of blues and reds. Painted after a European trip, where he visited and photographed the site, the scene fuses on-site observation with cinematic atmosphere. A pioneering matte painter who began at Walt Disney Studios, Ellenshaw contributed early to The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) before joining Industrial Light & Magic for Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980). He served as Visual Effects Supervisor on TRON (1982) and returned to Disney for Dick Tracy (1990), with credits including Pete's Dragon (1977), Captain EO (1986), Superman IV (1987), Ghost (1990), Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992), and Escape from L.A. (1996). In 2016, Ellenshaw received the Art Directors' Guild Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to visual effects. Signed by the artist, this painting is presented in Fine condition. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
