The Spirit of '43 Original Storyboard/Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1943). The Spirit of '43 is an animated World War II propaganda film created by the Walt Disney Studios in 1942 and released in January of 1943. The film stars Donald Duck, and is a sequel to The New Spirit. The purpose of the film is to encourage patriotic Americans to file and pay their income taxes faithfully in order to help the war effort. The repeated theme in the film is "Taxes...To Defeat the Axis." Presented in this lot is an extraordinary concept/storyboard piece from the short, showing factories working overtime, with smokestacks everywhere. The artwork was rendered in pastel on 7" x 5.5" black paper. We see this image at or around the 3:05 mark in the film. The piece is matted with to 15" x 14" with a clear plastic sheet for protection. Artwork condition is Very Good.
