Artist's Proof 1/10 from the sold-out edition "The Beach" by Disney Legend Peter Ellenshaw. This commanding 30" x 48" giclée, signed by Ellenshaw, distills his unrivaled feel for sea and sky: waves crash against dark rocks, cloudbanks churn overhead, and a band of shimmering shoreline light pulls the eye to the horizon. At Ellenshaw's 1993 Disney Legend induction, Roy E. Disney praised him: "Outside of the Studio, he was a fantastic painter in his own right... he did the best seascapes in the world." That mastery is on full display here-cinematic scale balanced with painterly sensitivity. Ellenshaw's seven-decade career encompassed more than 50 films and four Academy Award® nominations, winning the OSCAR® for the visual effects of Mary Poppins. His credits span The Thief of Bagdad, Treasure Island, Spartacus, The Love Bug, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Black Hole, and Dick Tracy. Celebrated by MoMA and the American Film Institute, he remains a towering figure in both fine art and film, later honored by the Visual Effects Society Hall of Fame.
