Description

Frank Frazetta - Original Preliminary Sketch for Woman with a Scythe (undated). The cover to Creepy #91 featured an unforgettable image of a half-nude woman, both arms outstretched, in one hand she holds a snake and in the other a great, bloodied blade, held high. The visage is so startling, it burns itself into your memory. Creating iconic imagery like this is a rare gift, yet it seems to be stock-in-trade for fantasy maestro, Frank Frazetta. Here is a rare item, indeed. A small color sketch for Frazetta's famous "Woman with a Scythe", which was originally printed by Warren Publishing, and later transformed into a highly-successful poster. The overall art size is 6" x 8" with a 4" x 5" image area. Although relatively small, Frazetta doesn't miss a thing, and all the details, which he eventually expanded into the final 19" x 21" image, are here. The art is clean and bright, and has been very well-kept. Signed by Frank Frazetta. Provenance: The Alexander Gallery.
