Description
One Piece: The Movie Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, and El Drago Production Cel Setup with Production Background and Animation Drawing Group of 2 (Toei Animation, 2000). One Piece: The Movie was released on March 4, 2000 during Toei Animation's 2000 Spring Anime Fair, and it saw the last time a One Piece production was done using traditional animation cels. Following the Straw Hat Crew in their quest to find the coveted One Piece, the pirates find themselves fighting the crew of the feared pirate El Drago for the treasure of the legendary Captain Woonan. Chained together, Luffy and Zoro end up at the mercy of El Drago, who underestimates the two pirates' fighting capabilities. The greedy El Drago measures an impressive figure size of 6" x 7", laughing at Luffy and Zoro, who share an image size of 3" x 4". The hand-painted 12 field size setup is presented on a production background of a blue sky rendered in gouache on background board with a size of 14" x 10". The lot includes two animation drawings that match the cels on the setup, one with Zoro and Luffy, numbered E8, and the other with El Drago, numbered C10. The drawings are rendered with graphite and colored pencils, and they display color callouts in red ink, with both drawings done on 12 field size animation paper. The cels of the setup are stapled together on their top edge, and they show very light surface scratches that don't affect the art. The background has some light crumpling on the edges, and the animation drawing C10 has some paint along the left edge of the drawing.
