Don Donald Donna Duck and Donald Duck Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1937). "Hello, big boy!" "Hey, toots!" Donald thrums up a salsa beat for his original love interest Donna Duck in this captivating original production cel Courvoisier setup from his first solo theatrical short Don Donald. Originally debuting with Mickey's face preceding the title card, this Ben Sharpsteen-directed short would in fact be the first installment in Donald's own series premiering on January 9, 1937, and featuring the unparalleled voice work of Clarence "Ducky" Nash for both Donald and Donna. Strumming a Latin beat adapted from real-world Mexican folk songs, Donald is seen first near the 1:27 timestamp with Donna spotted tapping her toes around the sombrero's brim about five seconds later as the camera pans back and forth between them. The delightful duo have been hand-inked and hand-painted to full figures standing 3.25" and 4.5" tall including their props, and in the standard Courvoisier practice have been meticulously trimmed to image and affixed to their custom painted Courvoisier background. The setup has been framed under glass to an overall size of 17.5" x 16" with a mat aperture of 9" x 7.75" and a plaque identifying the feature; the original Courvoisier COA on the reverse side. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. With typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning and slight edge curling/lifting of the trimmed cels, overall this lighthearted setup is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
