Description

101 Dalmatians Penny Art Corner Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1961). Here is an original hand-painted 12 field production cel featuring Penny, one of Pongo and Perdita's original fifteen pups from Disney's One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961), the studio's 17th animated feature directed by Woolie Reitherman, Ham Luske, and Clyde Geronimi from a story adapted by Bill Peet. Penny is among the lightest of the litter, with relatively few, small round spots, and she's one of the few girls-often shown cuddled close to her dad, Pongo. This charming studio cel presents a clean, well-posed image of the sweet-natured pup and is paired with a printed background for strong display appeal. Provenance is especially desirable: the cel was originally sold at Disneyland's famed Art Corner in Tomorrowland (1955-1966), the boutique that reintroduced authentic production cels to collectors after the Courvoisier Gallery years. The setup is matted to 15" x 13" and retains the coveted Art Corner gold-foil sticker on the reverse, a hallmark prized by animation enthusiasts. A delightful artifact from Disney's xerography era, capturing the warmth and graphic clarity that define this mid-century classic. Ideal for Dalmatian devotees and vintage cel collectors alike. In Very Good condition.
