Astro Boy Production Cel (Tezuka Productions, c. 1980-81). Presented is a magnificent original production cel featuring the iconic robot hero Astro Boy as he once again saves the day. Created for the 1980 Astro Boy series, a color remake of the 1960s black-and-white anime series, this cel features a spectacular image of the eponymous hero in action. Astro Boy was created by the legendary Godfather of Manga Osamu Tezuka, and he has since become the posterchild for the entire artistic movement known as anime. Regarded as the first popular character to embody the anime aesthetic, Astro Boy is one of the most important characters of the medium. This cel featuring the beloved classic character has a hand-painted image area of 9.75" x 8" on the 12 field cel. Displayed on a printed background for presentation purposes, the cel is numbered A7 in the lower right corner. Minor handling and edge wear, and the condition is Very Good.Auction Info
