Description

Lady and the Tramp and Fun and Fancy Free Si/Am and Cleo Art Corner Production/Color Model Cel (Walt Disney, 1955/1947). Worlds collide in this trimmed Art Corner multilayer production and color model cel as either Si or Am try to catch poor Cleo! The production cel of one of the Siamese cats was created for about 34:21 in Lady and the Tramp during "The Siamese Cat Song". The cats were animated by artists like Bill Justice, Bob Carlson, and John Sibley after Ward Kimball's initial scenes were decided to be too over the top for the more realistic animation in the film. Cleo is believed to have been created as a color model cel for her appearance in the beginning of the 1947 anthology film Fun and Fancy Free while Jiminy Cricket is narrating. She made a few appearances outside of Pinocchio, including in Fantasia (where animators used her design for the fish in the "Arabian Dance" section), and the short Figaro and Cleo. Fun and Fancy Free was the only time she had a solid yellow body and orange fins like this. The cel was originally sold at Disneyland's Art Corner store in Tomorrowland with the characters measuring 5.75'' x 5.5'' combined in the 9.5'' x 8'' mat. The back bears the golden Art Corner seal and both characters are in Very Good condition with light handling and minimal paint wear.
