Description

Cinderella Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1950). A stunning concept/Color Key painting by the hand of Disney Legend John Hench (1908 - 2004), this a wonderful piece depicting carriages on a bridge, making their way to the King's castle for the royal ball. Created for the 1950 animated masterpiece Cinderella, this stunning monochromatic image is a gorgeous rendering of the castle, beautifully reflected in the waters of the surrounding lake. John Hench, whose conceptual works greatly informed the look and feel of Cinderella in collaboration with the color and stylings of Mary Blair, would go on to work as senior vice president of Walt Disney Imagineering, and would celebrate 65 years with the Disney company until his death, still working full-time for Disney at the age of 95. This amazing piece by the celebrated artist is hand-painted masterfully in gouache on 9" x 6.5" illustration board. The piece shows minor handling and edge wear with light surface wear and pinholes in the upper corners and top edge. The condition overall is Very Good.
