Description
Pinocchio Geppetto and Pinocchio Nitrate Color Model Cel Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1940). Offered in this lot is a stunningly rare set of two hand-inked and hand-painted nitrate color model cels from Disney's Pinocchio, featuring our wooden protagonist and his father, Geppetto, both in full-figure! The kindhearted woodworker Gepetto is featured in an untrimmed 16-field five-peghole measuring a spectacular figure size of 4" x 9.5". The adorable image of Pinocchio features our eponymous character measuring 2.75" x 4.75" on the untrimmed 12-field cel. Very rarely do we see full nitrate cels like these! Clear protective cels are featured on the front and back of the cels, and they are stapled to boards. Light waviness can be seen on both cels. Some paint separation can be seen on Geppetto's socks, hair, and pants, with some fading areas on the pants. Showing minor handling and edge wear from production, the overall condition is Fair to Good.From the Ken O’Connor Archive.
