Description

Nelly's Folly RARE Original Production Cel and a 24" Key Master Pan Background by Phillip DeGuard (Warner Bros. 1961). Dive into the vibrant world of classic animation with this extraordinary Key Master setup from the 1961 Chuck Jones-directed short, Nelly's Folly. This setup is a rare treasure, featuring two hand-painted 12 field-size production cels placed over a 24" x 10.5" hand-painted Key Master background by Phillip DeGuard (1910-1982). As a piece of production art from this animated short, it represents a particularly rare find, being the first Key Master from Nelly's Folly that we have seen. Nelly's Folly tells the poignant tale of Nelly, a singing giraffe discovered on an African safari by a talent agent. Brought to America to achieve stardom, Nelly's journey from fame to infamy unfolds as she grapples with loneliness and controversy, ultimately longing for a simpler life. One of the songs that Nelly sings is "The Flower of Gower Gulch," first sung by Porky Pig in the cartoon Drip-Along Daffy (1951), which was also directed by Chuck Jones. This setup, in overall Good condition despite some cracking paint, edge wear, cel scratches and a dimple in one cel, and tape residue. This is a significant piece of production art for collectors of animation art and admirers of Chuck Jones' legendary directorial prowess. A true gem for those passionate about the artistry and history of animation.
