Description

Dr. Seuss "Sawfish" SOLD-OUT Limited Edition Sculpture #55/850 (Theodor Geisel, 2003). In 1937 Theodor Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) was commissioned to create a collection of seven "Marine Muggs" sculptures to display in the Esso Marine booth at the New York Boat Show. Offered here is a limited edition reproduction of one of these fanciful aquatic creatures that were on display. It's aptly titled "Sawfish" and is part of the posthumously released Unorthodox Taxidermy series from the estate of Theodor Geisel. The hand-cast and hand-finished resin sculpture measures 8" x 27" x 3", mounted to a wood plaque and hand-numbered #55/850. This whimsical sea creature exudes the artistic style and charm associated with the art of Dr. Seuss. It's one of the earliest pieces created for the series and rarely comes up for sale. COA included. In the original packaging and appears to have never been displayed. Condition is Fine.
