Eyvind Earle - Sleeping Beauty Dragon and Prince Phillip 11" x 5.5" Signed Concept/Color Key Painting Original Art (Walt Disney, 1959). "No! It cannot be! Now shall you deal with me, O Prince... and all the powers of hell!" These are the words of Maleficent after she watches Prince Phillip, with the aid of the three Good Fairies, continue on with his rescue efforts. He rides on his horse Samson, through the thorn trees Maleficent has grown, with his Sword of Truth and his Shield of Virtue. Maleficent counters his advance by turning herself in a fire-breathing dragon, for one of the most epic good-vs-evil scenes in Walt Disney Animation history. "Epic" could also describe this incredible Color Key/concept painting by Disney Legend Mr. Eyvind Earle (1916-2000). It's painted in gouache on board measuring 11" x 5.5". Great fire reflection on the castle, and a rare full-figure dragon as well. Mr. Earle has hand-signed the artwork in the bottom right corner. Minor handling and edge wear.
